You Look Sexy When You Run
This Sunday January 24th is the NYRR Manhattan Half Marathon which is part of the NYRR Half Marathon Series Grand Prix. Last year at this time, I was fully prepared to run this race, and the 4 other halfs to complete the Grand Prix. Then I broke my toe and that dream was dashed. This year, I am just not ready mileage wise to run a half so early in the season. Sure, I could do it, but its not part of my plan.
Even so, I am excited. I feel a part of the action. I have a lot of friends running this half marathon and I fully support them all. I enjoy reading everybody’s take on the half marathon. The goals and fears and fun that everybody will undoubtedly encounter. This race is not easy. It takes places entirely within Central Park. The course begins at West 63rd Street and will take runners through two full loops of the park. On the third loop, runners will turn onto the 72nd Street transverse and finish in front of the Bandshell near Bethesda. Runners will hit many hills throughout the race, making this a challenging course to kick off the racing year.
The camaraderie that all of us runners are feeling is simply contagious. While its fun to run a race and be a part of that, it is also just as amazing to revel in all of my friends happiness. And be there for them. I love that. I spectate with glee. With happiness. With love. With mucho respect.
Very awesome!!! So what is your pre-race meal going to be? Dinner and/or breakfast! Come on folks ~ I wanna know!! Pasta? Peanut butter? Mac and cheese? Fess up folks!! Talk to me!! Cupcakes? It’s all good.
The post race festivities will be glorious. Do I see a milkshake in your future? Fuck yeah, I do!!!
So here is my wish to you all:
After all the clouds go by, the simple things remain ~
Do you feel lucky runners? Well, DO YOU??
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe!!
‘Cause sometimes you feel tired,
feel weak, and when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up.
But you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength
and just pull that shit out of you and get that motivation to not give up
and not be a quitter, no matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse.
GOOD LUCK FRIENDS AND RUN LIKE YOU MEAN IT!!!!

Not to sound like an idiot BUT I thought the shirt said “Man” “Hat” “Tan” and I was wondering if you had joined a tanning salon that specialized in men with hat fetishes…. True story 🙂
All the best,
Ron
